Earlier in 2016 Blacktown Arts Centre commissioned eight artists to create works for their ‘Diaspora – Making Machines’ exhibition. Among those commissioned were installation artist Susannah Williams, and new media artist Warren Armstrong. What resulted was an intricate, multilayered, innovative piece that weaves history, grief, joy, humour, culture, movement, sound and technology together, encouraging the participant to listen, to learn, to move, to stay still and to reflect.

The film ‘Diaspora – Making Machines’ is a documentation of the process involved to create the work, and an exploration of how the journey reflects the destination.
